How It All Started

Seven and one half years ago, my husband Tyler and I dated for the first time. I was just going into my freshman year in high school and he was in 8th grade. We went to church together, and eventually became inseparable. But, Tyler, being a boy just hitting puberty and going into high school and all that decided that he wanted to date other girls. Fine, no problem. His grandmother and I were really close and I would help her house sit and run errands with her. I constantly found myself crying and telling her I loved him and missed him, yada yada. Most people I said these things to told me it was just a phase, he was just a boy and I would live, to move on. But Millie, his grandmother, told me that God has a funny way of making things work and if it was meant to be, it would happen.
Low and behold, seven years later, we both had just ended some semi-serious, serious relationships and started talking again. We went out on a couple dates and once again became inseparable. We spent all the time we could together and he took to my daughter as his own. Payton was 5 months old when Tyler and I started seeing each other again. It was just like old times.

I know it may seem crazy, but we were, and still are, head over heels for one another and he proposed to me. I knew he was going to propose, I just didn't know when or how. I helped pick out the ring and everything. Well, on April 28th, 2012, Tyler, Payton, Tyler's mom and dad (Frankie and Monica), all went out to eat at the Texas Roadhouse. We were having a really nice time. As we were leaving Tyler received a call saying he had to come into work. I was fairly upset, seeing as how we were having such a good day and we had plans afterwards. Well, Tyler went on in his truck and Payton and I rode with his parents, thinking we were going home. Now remember, everyone was in on the set-up but me. We ended up on the parkway and I wasn't paying much attention to anything because I was upset. But as we pulled up into one of the look-out spots, I saw Tyler sitting on the hood of his truck, waiting for us, with the biggest smile on his face. I was so surprised, but in my head I was thinking "What a butt-hole!". We all got out of the car and since everyone but me knew what was going on, Tyler's dad Frankie got his camera ready and Tyler took my hand, got on one knee and PROPOSED!!! It was amazing! I mean the scenery was gorgeous, the weather was perfect, we had someone to take pictures to record it, and my whole little family was there!! I'm not sure if the date was planned or not, but he proposed to me on my mothers birthday :)

The next day we started planning the wedding. :) We had a huge wedding planned and all that, but we got some news about a future deployment and we decided to just have a small get together of family and have it at our church. On May 31st, 2012, we officially got hitched :)
